20 Years Old... and counting: Making the most of FUNdraising

Mark your calendar for the Junior League of Macon’s 20th Anniversary Market Place Celebration, October 23, 24, 25, 2008! The Market Place committee has been hard at work for months making plans for the biggest, best fundraiser Macon has ever experienced.

This pre-holiday tradition is considered one of Middle Georgia’s most anticipated events, and this year we are introducing several new things which are sure to increase customer attendance and create sell-out excitement during the three
day event.

Market Place is a great “shopportunity” for Macon and surrounding communities. Proceeds from this event will benefit the projects the Junior League of Macon commits to helping on an annual basis. We are dedicated to helping fill the needs of women and children in our community; fighting the challenges of domestic violence, illiteracy and healthcare.

Market Place will open on Thursday, October 23 and close on Saturday, October 25, 2008. We are excited about our new dates which were chosen to work around the University of Georgia’s home-game football schedule! The event will be held again this year at the Anderson Conference Center at Goodwill, conveniently located off I-475 at Exit 3.

But first...we kick off the celebration with a huge party, October 3 in conjunction with First Friday in Downtown Macon - (an off-weekend for the GA Bulldogs). You and your friends will not want to miss Market Place Martinis, being held at Market City Café. A great location, even better food and FREE MARTINIS! Live music by Mark Brooker! A silent auction and a live auction. Click on the Market Place Martini Party and Auction link above for an ever growing list of incredible auction items. Tickets are $30 person and $50 per couple... a bargain for a tremendous night on the town and considering all the food and excitement included!

As for Market Place itself...get ready to be WOWED! THRILLED! AMAZED! Hours: Thursday and Friday, 10am-8pm and Saturday, 9am-4pm.

All Market Place tickets will cost $5. You can buy a ticket at the door or in advance from any Jr. League member, and at a few businesses around town (TBA). You may choose to upgrade to a weekend pass for just $3 more, and return to Mrket Place as many times as you'd like. Details will be available when you present your ticket at the door.

Our show filled very quickly with ALMOST ALL BRAND NEW VENDORS and many loyal favorites returning also! We’ve got bags and stationary, soap and candles, children’s clothes, women’s clothes, jewelry (costume, antique,
semi-precious, and extremely precious), food, frames, Christmas gifts, cashmere, books, pewter, home items, and good stuff for men too! And the list goes on! Click on the list of merchants link above for a full listing.

The wildly popular and highly successful wreath sale is back.

Casserole sales will include some brand new recipes. A huge, delicious variety like Chicken Divan, Sausage Cheese Grits, Vegetable Lasagna, Cavatini and Chicken Enchiladas.

Your favorite Sally Foster wrapping paper and gifts will be sold through the Junior League booth. Catalogs will be available for online orders and all items will be shipped directly to your house within a few days.

Gift wrapping will be available to our shoppers...and so much more!

Saturday morning treat your children to a Character Breakfast! Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Santa, and who knows who else will show up! Pancakes and lots of fun! These tickets will be limited in number, so make your reservation early! The breakfast will cost just $20 for one parent and one child. Each additional child is only $5 more. Who needs Disney World?!

Enjoy Delicious Edgar's ice cream and join magician Mike Fuller for a fun party!! Just $5 per person. Tickets will be available at the Junior League Booth during Market Place.

All day Saturday we will host local artists in a special Artist Walk. Expect to see some of the area’s finest artwork for sale!!

Mark your calendar and GET EXCITED! This is the FUNdraiser that puts funds back into our community. The Junior League of Macon is a non-profit organization whose purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. All proceeds from all Junior League fundraisers are put pack into our community. Last year alone, JLM gave over 10,000 hours and more than $50,000 to the community agencies we support.
