Playground Project

The Junior League of Macon is working on building a playground for all of Macon's children to enjoy under the direction and guidance of KaBoom!. KaBoom! is a non-profit organization that is helping communities organize and build a playspace within walking distance of every child in the nation. Please see KaBOOM! for more information on this great organization. For more information about the The Playground at Water Works Park please CLICK HERE.

This playground build is scheduled for April 5, 2008 on the Riverwalk. The Junior League is already in communication with NewTown Macon on the site and are happy to be partnering with the Bibb County Medical Alliance to include equipment for children with mobility issues and to make sure our children are protected from the sun. We are fortunate to have Dr. Frank Kelly on board with this project as he has worked with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in building playgrounds around the country for children with disabilities.

We are looking for more community partners to help us with this big project. It is our desire to have all of Macon's civic organizations and businesses behind this initiative. Your kind support and a donation in any amount will be greatly appreciated and will help provide a playground that all of our children can enjoy. To make a donation online please CLICK HERE.

Leave a permanent mark on the playground and buy a commemorative brick. CLICK HERE to download a form.

Please contact Wendy Boston, our Playground Chair by clicking here if you are interested in being a part of this great adventure. We would love to come talk to your group or organization about the many benefits of play has for children and how it can affect our community.
